A friend of mine is back to her home country India after working two years abroad. So I took her for film ‘Paa’. And at the end of film, to everybody's surprise, she asked, “Who's that brilliant actor who played Auro?” Such is the charm actor Amitabh Bachchan has given to his role as Auro who is 12 years old but is old.

But there are cynics too. Those big fans of Amitabh Bachchan believe that he is God. So for them why the actor has been casted as a clown. They are not convinced about a 6-foot-3-inch-tall 67-year-old man play a 12-year-old. They didn’t not like him covered in prosthetic make-up. Also faux child voice distracted them.

Last Monday our 'Paa' of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan bagged the Asian Film Cultural Award. The award is for successful completion of 40 years in the entertainment industry.

The award was conferred by director Ramesh Sippy and it was Kiran Shantaram, chairman, Asian Film Foundation who selected him for the award. Amitabh thanked him by saying, "I am most grateful to Kiran Shantaram, who has an old association with me for many, many years, has given me the opportunity to receive this award."

Bachchan considers that the industry has given him a great opportunity to represent his creativity and his art, and also the opportunity to project cinema to the other parts of the world. He also emphasized the idea that Indian cinema has become one of the unifying force between the people from diverse castes, creeds, cultures, religions and languages.

Amitabh Bachchan who's still a challenge for the Bollywood's young stars without any doubts remarks that he has strong ties with the southern film industry too and says that he is almost half Tamil. The veteran may be hails from the city of Mumbai, but is also a product of south India.

The actor was in the city recently for the special screening of his latest release Paa, in which he plays an intelligent, happy-go-lucky, 13-year-old progeria afflicted child - a rare genetic disorder in which a person ages faster than normal.

Amitabh Bachchan said that Paa is nothing short of a Tamil film. The director of the film R Balki, music director Ilaiyaraaja, cinematographer PC Sreeram and actress Vidya Balan, all hail from the state.

Big B seems to have great admiration for the film industry in south India and for him it has always been a pleasure to come to Chennai. He truly admires the culture and discipline here which is not prevalent in Mumbai.

Amitabh also praises on music maestro Ilaiyaraaja and legendary cinematographer PC Sreeram and says that he's a great admirer of Ilaiyaraaja and found himself fortunate to have worked with such a brilliant music director. Amitabh organizes special premiere for Dilip Kumar

Star of stars Amitabh Bachchan is planning to organize a special screening of 'Paa' for legendary actor Dilip Kumar as he would not be able to attend its premiere at Wadala. Dilip Kumar is ill, therefore for him special screening is planned.



Amitabh wants that the screening of 'Paa' becomes a success, and for this he has invited host of Bollywood celebrities including names like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, Hemamalini, Jeetendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.

In the film, Bachchan is playing role of 13-year-old child suffering from progeria. Describing his talk with Dilip Kumar, he said, "Dilip Saheb gave his characteristic laugh when I told him I was playing Abhishek's son...I would keep a separate trial for him where he does not have to worry about the crowd and the rush of the media."

Amitabh praises Vidya

Amitabh Bachchan, in a recent interview has admired his 'Paa' co actress Vidya Balan saying that she has the grace and beauty of Waheeda Rehman. With such compliment from the superstar, Vidya is deeply humbled as well dumbfounded too.

Also Amitabh has said that she reminds of the Indianness as well the stars with whom he had worked in his films like Trishul, Kabhie Kabhie and Adalat. On this Vidya said, "It was very kind of him (Amitabh Bachchan) to say something like that. Waheeda-ji was known for her beauty and grace and being compared to her is like receiving a great award."

Amitabh praises Abhishek

The film 'Paa' is crucial for Amitabh Bachchan’s production company AB corp. and he is happy with fact that the budget has been managed at Rs 15 crores by his son Abhishek Bachchan. In an interview to IANS he said, “This time Abhishek has managed all the production hassles and I am glad he has done it with a high level of maturity.”

These days film's budgets are soaring around 50 crores. Amitabh and his team had set out an estimated budget of Rs 15 crores, but with the efforts of son Abhishek Bachchan he managed it at Rs 14.75 crores. Amitabh is all praise for his son as he has done a remarkable job by making the film at a low budget without compromising on the quality or the shooting locations. The real life father and son have reversed their roles in the film as Abhishek is father of Amitabh.

Amitabh's 'Paa' is set to release on 4 December. After his film 'Paa', he will be seen in Ram Gopal Varma's ‘Rann’ and Leena Yadav's ‘Teen Patti’. These days he is hosting the reality show 'Bigg Boss 3' which is aired on channel Colors.

Big B excited and nervous

The most awaited movie 'Paa' from his home production ABCL, Amitabh Bachchan is excited as well nervous about it. 'Paa' premiere has been planned on 3 December, a day before its release. Both Sharukh Khan and Aamir Khan have been invited to attend the premiere.

The nervousness is getting apparent as the release date coming fast. It is reflected through these lines which he has posted on his blog, “Slowly but surely the jig saw puzzle will begin to unfold. The test of all our hours and hours of effort at the film shall now be up for scrutiny. And within two hours and 14 minutes the verdict shall be passed. Once passed, shall remain passed. Such is the destiny of those that participate in this wondrous game of filmmaking.”

Amitabh has worked very hard for this film. In fact he has sat for hours only for the makeup of 13 years old boy. Therefore he wants to know how much his perseverance is going to pay.
